“Trust the Experts in the Government”…and Other Ways We’ve Been Gaslit

I'm super passionate about helping high achievers become the 1% that realize their full potential and maximize their impact.

We aren't meant to do it alone!

Hi, I'm Angie

I was a junior in college, sitting at my grandparents’ dinner table, while visiting over winter break.

A course on the history of African colonization had left me incensed about the state of the world and so, fueled by my innocent idealism and sacred rage, I had decided to change my major from Pre-Law to Poverty Studies.

Not surprising that my grandfather did not support this choice.

That night at dinner, I was trying to explain to him about the politics of poverty, and how it’s an intentionally designed system that exploits poor countries for their resources and prevents them from ever advancing economically.  I was explaining how deliberate, corrupt and unjust it was, and how the African continent was the richest in resources, yet the poorest in wealth.

“It’s not your job to save the world,” he said, exasperated. “The’s why we have experts in the government— to handle the big issues!  You need to trust them to do their job.

Your job is to find a career that will pay you a decent living, then you can donate to the charities you care about.  That’s how you make a difference!  Stop worrying about problems you can’t control!”

And thus began a lifetime of being gaslit by well-intentioned people.

Of being told to accept things about the world that my soul knew were unacceptable.

Things like…

  • Trust the experts in the government to handle the big issues like climate change, poverty and social justice (when they are complicit in causing most of the problems we face).
  • Success, status and wealth are the only ingredients needed for a happy life.
  • The only way to truly make a difference is to become rich and donate to charities.
  • And the biggest lie of all…that I’m only one person, and therefore powerless to make a difference.

People have always said that I was crazy for caring so much about the problems of the world.  But I’ve always thought it was crazy that they didn’t seem to care at all.

The suffering of the world has sorta been like background music– with enough distraction, you could almost forget it’s even there.

Then in 2020, the world stopped, and the background music was the only thing still playing.  We were forced to finally pay attention.

Sorta like when they turn the lights on after last call at a nightclub…and you realize that sweaty drunk people are not as sexy as they had seemed just five minutes ago when they were grinding on your leg.  Talk about a buzzkill.

The reason the world feels so unhinged right now isn’t because of new problems…

It’s because, in this Age of Information, the lights are on and there is nowhere for injustice, exploitation and corruption to hide.  And so we are being forced to face the problems that have always been there—hiding in plain sight.

It is hard to look– especially when you are brave enough to fully see what’s happening.  To sit with the discomfort of it–

The deeply rooted evil.

The powerlessness.

The hopeless despair and cognitive overload that we are all carrying on a daily basis.

So before we can begin building a better world (and yes, it IS possible in our lifetimes.

  • We must first acknowledge how we’ve ALL been gaslit into accepting things that are simply unacceptable.
  • We must grieve for the current state of things and how deeply we’ve ALL been traumatized by what we’ve seen.
  • And we must learn to see, with compassion, a world so deeply rooted in unconscious fear and the illusion of scarcity that ONLY LOVE CAN SAVE IT.

That’s the real, raw work we are doing inside Sacred Rebellion.

This is not some course you can replicate with AI…this is deep, brave, collective spiritual healing and recalibration.  And it is needed now, more than ever.

Till my dying breath, I will hold the vision for the world I know is possible.  A world that will be created with our frequency first, then our unified collective actions.  Because that is the strongest weapon we have…without it, we don’t stand a chance.

So who’s with me?
